McNeill, William. The Noble Women of the Staircase and Atrium Windows in the Lady Chapel of the Liverpool Cathedral. Liverpool: Daily Post, 1915.

A 176-pp. illustrated book about the Noble Women windows installed in the Lady Chapel, the first portion of the cathedral to be completed; a prosopography funded by the Liverpool Diocesan Girls Friendly Society, designed by J. W. Brown, and installed in 1910. The windows were damaged in World War II. This book recalls catalogues of portrait galleries. Val Jackson, Cathedral Archivist, considers the idea of a series of Noble Women to be "forward-thinking" in 1910 (Liverpool Cathedral, "Lady Chapel Archive Exhibition," http://www.liverpoolcathedral.org.uk/, 16 June 2010), but it was a standard phrase and concept.

See Jennie Chappell's works of that period.

TOC: Queen Victoria; Elizabeth Barrett Browning; Christina Rossetti; Elizabeth Fry; Grace Darling; Catherine Gladstone; Susanna Wesley; Josephine Butler; Agnes Jones; Kitty Wilkinson.
